possibility to specify what decimal character %char() should use

I'm missing the possibility to specify what decimal character should be used in %char() overriding the control specification DECEDIT keyword. The standard european character is comma instead of point. But sometimes when generating CSV or XML files it has to be point. It would be good to specify what it should be in the format part of %char().

Use Case:

text = %CHAR(nbr : *POINT); // text = 123.4

text = %CHAR(nbr : *COMMA); // text = 123,4

text = %CHAR(nbr); // use the character indicated by the control specification DECEDIT keyword

    Yes, of course I know XLATE could be used but the resulting code looks clumsy and need extra documentation in form of comments.

    IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed. To handle this scenario, you can use %XLATE:

    text = %XLATE(',' : '.' : %CHAR(nbr));
