Long Unicode fields in Window

Permit DSPF key word CNTFLD on Unicode fields (CCSID 13488).


Use Case:

I have a Unicode field in a table defined as GRAPHIC(500) CCSID(13488) which I needs to show in a window. Since the size is
500 (display length 1,000) the field must go across multiple lines on the screen.

I have tried using the CNTFLD keyword but it is not permitted with CCSID 13488 (CPD7741). I have also tried without CNTFLD and hoped that the field would automatically wrap. Unfortunately it intrudes into the columns which are reserved for scroll bar/selection list (CPD8186).

Not having the ability to show Unicode fields in a window is very restrictive.

    After review, this is a. very specific request for a technology that is receiving little enhancements. There is little value to the larger IBM i community
