This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Include GNU Compiler Collection (gcc) as 5733OPS option.
We find many are needing to compile native extensions for Node.js/Ruby/Python/(PHP?) which requires a C/C++ compiler. The frequency is growing for those asking for this on spaces.litmis.com. Today we use perzl's gcc (thanks Michael) but it would be great if it was included in 5733OPS because it is turning into a foundational need.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Power Systems
Product - IBM i
Component - PASE, Open Source
Operating system - IBM i
Source - ISV (Independent Software Vendor)
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Power Systems
Product - IBM i
Component - PASE, Open Source
Operating system - IBM i
Source - None
With IBM's emphasis on open source, not having the GCC seems contradictory. This is not only for the projects listed, but other open source utilities--e.g., GnuPG, 7-zip, expect, etc.
