EIM for Navigator for i

IBM has deprecated the IBM i Access for Windows product, including System i Navigator. The successor to System i Navigator is IBM Navigator for i. Unfortunately, IBM Navigator for i doesn't support IBM's Enterprise Identity Mapping (EIM) Kerberos authentication. Without that support, we can't move past IBM i Access for Windows. On the other hand, IBM i Access for Windows will never support Windows 10. So for now, we're tied to software that will not run on modern Windows PC's.

Use Case:

User would click the link to launch Navigator for i
Navigator for i would authenticate using EIM Kerberos and automatically log the user in
The user would be logged in and be able to perform necessary admin functions

Support for SSO for Navigator has already been delivered. Details can be found at - https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/wikis/home?lang=en#!/wiki/IBM%20i%20Technology%20Updates/page/Enable%20Single%20Sign-On

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM not implement this request. Kerberos support in Apache can be configured so the administration instance can be modified to have Kerberos support.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
