Access Client Solutions - [jump next active]

In Client Access there was the possibility to map a key to the function [jump next active]. Then when hitting the key the next active iseries session window is shown. Much easyer than switching with Windows Alt-Tab function when I want to focus on my Client Access sessions, not on the other PC applications I have open.

This is missing in Access Client Solutions.

Use Case:

Very often I use this function to check for differences between two sessions. If there is a difference between them it is easy to see the "flickering" that occurs.

It also is very easy to switch between sessions.

    Hi,
this doesn't solve the problem. It is the problem.
Please read my comment below from 22 Sep 2016.

This support is already available. Unfortunately is was not put next to the other "Jump to X" options. From an emulator session, select: Edit->Preferences->Keyboard
    For Category, select Menu Commands
Jump Next and Jump Previous are in the list
Select one, then the Assign a key button
    Type your key combination

Another option is available if you are using tabbed sessions. You can bounce to the next tabbed session using ctrl->tab.

    Hope that helps.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Power Systems
    Product - IBM i
    Component - iAccess
    Operating system - IBM i
    Source - Other

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Power Systems
    Product - IBM i
    Component - Other
    Operating system - IBM i
    Source - Other

I see. That's different than what I was thinking about. I guess the closest thing would be to map keys to the 'Jump to Session A', 'Jump to Session C', etc. But that really doesn't directly address your request either.

This doesn't apply to us so I won't be voting for it, but I can see the value.

You might try promoting it on the Midrange-l mailing list at Midrange.com

    Hi Michael
Thank you for your reply. I have tried it but it doesn't function like the Jump_Next_Active. If you have session A, B and C where session A and C are maximized and B is minimized, I would like only to jump between session A and C (and back to A). Jump_Next jumps from A to B (maximizing it) to C (and back to A). It should only jump between the sessions that are not minimized.

This really is already there. It's just very different from IBM i Access. Go into the keyboard mapping, select 'Menu Commands' in the category drop-down, then fund the 'Jump Next' and/or 'Jump Previous' functions and map them to your desired key. (I used 'Ctrl Page Down 'and 'Ctrl Page Up' respectively.)
