Referral loop-closure agent

Problem: The referral loop — specialist referral sent, appointment made, consult note returned — breaks constantly. Referral documents arrive as unstructured faxes and PDFs, patients never book, consult notes never come back, and the referring clinician doesn't know the loop is open until the patient's problem worsens. The handoff is healthcare's most common lost-workflow.

Idea: Add an Orchestrate agent that owns each referral end to end: it extracts the clinical question and required workup from the referral, confirms the appointment was scheduled, nudges the patient with reminders, requests the consult note if it doesn't arrive within a set window, and files the closed loop back to the referring clinician's queue. Grounded in the documented agentic-AI referral-intake pattern (HealthCare Automation, July 2026) — extraction from referral documents, patient matching, and automated follow-up — extended from intake into full loop closure.

Value: Open referrals stop going dark: patients get the specialty care they were sent for, and clinicians regain sight of their own referrals.
