Calculating partition minimum memory in System Planning Tool

When planning the memory usage in a new LPAR'd Power System using the System Planning Tool the minimum memory allowed does not work when you actually build the partitions.  The tool allows lower minimum memory than the actual install will allow.  It would be nice if the SPT enforced higher minimum memory limits as the partition desired/maximums increase.  That way we wouldn't have to adjust the minimum memory values at implementation time.

Currently we design the memory layout using the SPT, but often when the memory is entered into the system during partition configuration, we have to go back and correct the minimum memory (higher) to get the partition to build successfully.

Thank your for your Ideas request.

System Planning Tool, version 6.23.264 has recently added support for this request. Minimum memory requirements per partition now enforced. If min memory is not met, SPT will automatically adjust the min memory (and desired/max as appropriate) with a temporary error message. Note that new buttons have been added to allow users to re-default the min memory or all partition memory values when desired.
