This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Currently per VM in PowerVC, only one Storage connectivity group is supported
The impact of this is that the same storage type (SSP/VSCSI/NPIV/ISCSI) must be used for all volumes in a Virtual Machine
We have many Clustered VM's were we need to have seperate Storage connectivity group(S) per volume type (Boot/Data/CLusterData)
The lack of this prevents LPM's or remote restarts of LPAR's using multiple via PowerVC and instead must be done via the HMC and then manualy re-importing the VM to PowerVC as a hack
Using multiple storage types on an LPAR is and has been supported since Power5 or earlier and a common deployment is root volume on VSCSI/SSP and data volumes on NPIV
Openstack supports this concept, IBM just needs to enable the functionality via GUI or CLI
Recomendation would be to change Storage connectivity group setting from a VM setting to a per volume setting

This would be a sensible extension of the GU interface. It has been available via HMC and CLI for a while; why not in the PowerVC, which is intended to ease deployment and change tasks?
