A customer wants to adopt PowerVC to automate and manage more efficiently AIX VMs. However PowerVC uses all ports of SVC (Storage Controller) to zone AIX virtual FC adapters depending of storage access requirements set in SCG and FC.
SVC level ports configuration is usually divided as follow :
* 4 ports dedicated for Server to Storage Controller traffic
* 2 ports dedicated to inter-node cluster traffic
* 2 ports for remote copy traffic (IBM Global Mirror feature)
When registering a Storage Provider like SVC in above configuration, PowerVC lacks of restricting zonable ports only to specified nodes ports.
It results in unability of SVC to isolate fronted traffic (Server to Controller) and backend traffic (internode or Global Mirror) because PowerVC considers all ports as eligible for zoning activities.
This is a blocking point in PowerVC adoption and I believe many SVC clients would have such requirement.

The ability to "blacklist" WWPN ports from a back-end storage array was introduced in PowerVC 1.3.3, which was released on June 23, 2017.
