Power7 servers have support for 4096 byte NWSSTG objects (hosted disks) but it is not quite complete. Oh so very close!! It is complete for 770 (Enterprise) class servers in 780 firmware. Sadly, however, for the entry level, E4D servers it is not QUITE complete. It works for NON Load source storage (Disks 2 and up) It even allows you to select a 4096 byte virtual disk for the load source and it will copy the data to that disk. However at IPL it throws an error instantly. Both i 7.2 and i 7.3 have support for 4096 byte virtual disks as do Power7 and Power8 servers but not the most popular Power7 the E4D. Please complete this update to the firmware.
