VFC Client Adapter Limitation

The request originates from following APARs for VFC CLIENT ADAPTER LIMITATION ON NUM_CMD_ELEMS

• 6100-08 - use AIX APAR IV61158
• 6100-09 - use AIX APAR IV63231
• 7100-02 - use AIX APAR IV64278
• 7100-03 - use AIX APAR IV63282

The description and fix provided in APAR are below:
Error description
• The fcstat command output for a virtual fibre adapter
• (VFC) shows the high water mark of active commands never
• exceeds 256, irrespective of the num_cmd_elems attribute
• value.

Local fix

Problem summary
• More number of pending commands in the VFC client adapter's
• pending queue, even when num_cmd_elems value is higher than
• 256.

Problem conclusion
• Modified code to limit the upper limit for num_cmd_elems for
• VFC client adapter

For AIX versions mentioned above, the num_cmd_elems has been limited to a maximum value of 256 for VFC client adapter once the APAR is applied.
