Dear IBM,
we encounter a performance issue in VIOS and VIOC.
we found we have nothing to do to improve the virtual network adapter transmit speed,based on the 10GB physical adapter.BUT in our datacenter ,there is 140+ 780 &880 facing the same issue.
Background:
1 There are two modles using the 10GB network adapter, P780 and P8-E880.
2 We use the 10GB adapter through the SEA mode.
3 On the VIOC, the throughout and incoming flow is very low,300MB/S,which is much lower than the 10GB adapter designed.
4 we adjust some segment following the VIOS BP for the 10GB adapter tunning, there is a little better,
but is still no use.
5 we did many test for the case.And during the test, the higher flow ,the more package dropped, which was due the no resoure error. and the SMALL BUFF will overflow.
6 we opened PMS 90588&91346 and PMH for IBM help. PE review the data: PERF data、hypervisor dump and HYPER pedug,collected during the test.
7 At last, there is no useful method to fix the problem.
PLS help to review the related PMR again and help us to fix the problem.
