The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. This could be considered a Defect that needs to be addressed as soon as possible since it affects the entire part of the IBM i community that is using VIOS, and do note that use of VIOS is growing among the IBM i community.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

    Hi Chris

Did IBM give you any indication as to why this would be?

On Dual VIOS systems that host IBM i I regularly restart one of them and the failover of disk paths never causes the client IBM i LPAR to hang or stall. Are they saying that because the one VIO server crashed, this is why the failover did not work promptly?

Could you tell us how your storage is being virtualised?
NPiV or vSCSI and if you are using shared storage pools?

I understand if you do not want to share this information publicly but without it I can not assess whether we in the CEAC should take up this matter with IBM on your behalf.

    Best wishes,
