Currently when virtualizing an LPAR behind dual VIOS the network path taken by connections only goes through one VIOS server. This means that any network resources on the other VIOS server are not available for the LPAR.
If the virtual switch provided by the VIOS would support LACP for the LPAR then the connections would be able to be balanced across both VIOS servers and thus utilize all the available network resources.

Hi, The requested feature/configuration is already supported today.
You can create a NIB (network interface backup) device in LPAR,
with primary channel backed by one SEA/VIOS1, and the backup channel
backed by another SEA/VIOS2.
We also have support for SEA failover mode and load sharing mode.
Please let us know if you would like to have a conference call
that we can walk you through the various redundancy solutions
supported on PowerVM today. Thanks.
