Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

Environment variables in crontab files

In Linux you may specify environment variables for cron jobs in the crontab. Like: SHELL=/bin/bashPATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/binMAILTO=root01 * * * * root run-parts /etc/cron.hourly AIX doesn't have such feature, but it would be good to have it.

Add the full man page for ksh93

As for now man ksh93 gives just a 1/3 of the original ksh93 manual page. You can compare it to https://linux.die.net/man/1/ksh93 (copy of the original man page from AT&T site) or to https://github.com/att/ast/blob/master/src/cmd/ksh93/sh.1.

inetd needs hardening

inetd is too easily killed. We have had numerous examples over the years of customers or cluster software resetting systems only to find, looking in the crash dump, that inetd is not running. This is odd because srcmstr is responsible for restarti...
