This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

For a given type of fibre channel attached disks (i.e. storage subsystem) all of the LUNs of that type must use the same multi-pathing solution on AIX. It is not possible to have some of the LUNs on the EMC subsystem use Power Path and other LUNs on the same subsystem use AIX MPIO. There are currently no plans for AIX to support mixing of MPIO solutions on the same storage subsystems, nor is it expected that any plans will materialize in the near future.
That's 100% an EMC software concern. The ODM definitions for MPIO of EMC devices are by EMC, and the powermt software is what controls which devices are owned and controlled by the powerpath0 driver.
AIX does allow MPIO and one non-MPIO driver to use the same HBA at the same time.
You'll want to check with EMC on the rest, to see if they can allow powermt unmanage for specific devices instead if specific HBAs, and allowing the same MPIO ODM definitions to be used for both MPIO and PP controlled devices.
