Backup via O.A. to RDX

We require the implementation of optical devices (RDX) in Backup Tasks via Operational Assistant (Go Backup), as well as supported in SAVxxx Save Commands and in the Go Save menu for Save System and User Data (Options 20-23).


Use Case:

Implementing new devices more and more required by customers.

    IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed.
    IBM's recommended strategy is to use the GO SAVE menu as a replacement for OA Backup.

    The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed. The user base that uses Operational Assistant today does not have a similar replacement, and they will likely have to use RDX as a solution.

    Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

    IBM has received the requirement. IBM is no longer enhancing Operational Assistant Backup and does not intend to provide a solution to this request. However, IBM will use votes and comments from others in the community to reconsider this position.
