V7R3 COBOL ILE PARMS Function fails when called from QZRUCLSP

When Called from a caller that does not pass the Minimal operational descriptor, the PARMS function fails catastrophically. This causes an un-graceful and uncontrolled end to the Program invoking PARMS with no return message.

Use Case:

When a program may be called without it's required parameters, it is advisable to test the number of parameters actually passed before attempting to access a parameter memory space that has not been addressed.

My preference would be to allow COBOL programs to use the PARMS function when called as a web service. this would allow polymorphic behaviour o a sort based on the number of incoming parameters when combined with Is Numeric.

The previous response was given in error.

Requesting more information about the purpose of this RFE. (The previous response was given in error.)

Is the purpose of this RFE to have QZRUCLSP perform the call in a way that will allow the COBOL procedure to use the PARMS function?

Or is the purpose of this RFE to have ILE COBOL handle the missing PARMS information more gracefully?

It was entered in the incorrect area apparently. it should have been entered under the ILE COBOL product. Could you transfer it to the correct group?

Hi, may I know if there was a specific reason as to why this RFE was opened against the Enterprise COBOL for z/OS product and not against the ILE COBOL product?
