Copy To Archive File (CPYTOARCF) Enhancement

Please enhance the CPYTOARCF command so that it takes the specified directory as the root directory in the zip file.

Example 1:

CPYTOARCF FROMFILE('/home/raddatz/temp/ziptest')
TOARCF('/home/raddatz/temp/ziptest.zip')

In this case the first directory in ziptest.zip is 'home'.

Example 2:

CD DIR('/home/raddatz/temp')
CPYTOARCF FROMFILE('ziptest') TOARCF('/home/raddatz/temp/ziptest.zip')

In this case the first directory in ziptest.zip should be 'ziptest', but currently also is 'home'.

Actually CPYTOARCF should work the same as the jar command in QShell:

1. STRQSH
2. cd /home/raddatz/temp
3. jar cfM ziptest_jar.zip ziptest/*


Use Case:

Without the formentioned change it is not possible to use CPYTOARCF and CPYFRMARCF to zip a folder and unzip it to another location, because the zipped directory structure always starts at the root directory.

    IBM agrees with the request and a solution appears to be desirable and feasible. IBM intends to provide a solution. However, IBM's plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.

    The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed. Although there are workarounds, the lack of this feature is an irritation. It would be simpler if folks could use this command rather than some of the alternatives.

    Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

    Agree fully! When I started to use the CPYTOARCF command I was puzzled why the default behavior is so weird. I have another zip product on my IBM i instances that works normally. This should be enhanced as soon as possible.
