This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for Power Systems
In addition to Tab/Shift Tab mentioned.
Ctrl-C (copy) sometimes works.. sometimes doesn't. I'm not sure why.
Apparently the supported copy command is Ctrl-Ins.
This is a bit.... unintuitive.
The information that we requested to clarify this enhancement request was not provided so the RFE is being closed.
Thank you for taking the time to suggest this enhancement to our product.
In RDi 9.0 we introduced an LPEX profile named "eclipse" to provide such a profile that is more in line with other Eclipse editors, and we made it the default. Any enhancements as you are suggesting would go into this profile, as you are asking.
I believe the selection issues you are seeing should only come from selecting errors in the Error List view, and all other selections will behave as they do in other Eclipse editors already. This issue is covered by another RFE.
In addition to this idea of an LPEX profile, which we have starting in RDi 9.0, I believe the two other specific requests you are making are already being tracked by other RFEs, and if that is the case, it would be easier for us to track these with the separate, individual RFEs. These RFEs are:
* RFE 36974 - Change behaviour of TAB-key for /free lines (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=36974)
* RFE 45610 - Using Error List should highlight the item in error, not select (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=45610)
Please reply on whether you agree that:
1. The "eclipse" LPEX editor profile introduced in v9.0 hits your request for an LPEX profile that behaves more like other Eclipse editors.
2. RFE 36974 covers your request regarding TAB-key behaviour in /free lines.
3. RFE 45610 should cover your concerns about selection, with the assumption that selection behaves more Eclipse-like in all other situations (only behaves inappropriately from the Error List).
If you agree, then I will close this RFE so we can track the individual parts in the other 2 RFEs.
This RFE is consistent with our strategy and product roadmap and IBM is continuing to evaluate.
