Please provide for date and signed fields in CL programs

There is a need to be able to work with compatible fields in CL, RPG and display files.

I use date fields on the display to prompt for date parameters to run jobs in batch or even interactive jobs.

This is true for jobs run from a IBMi command too.

Use Case:

Validating the date fields in a CL is way more complicated than it need be. I am unable to make use of the CVTDAT command to validate the date fields or test for range checks and do not want to call an RPG program to validate the dates.

Dates need to be validated and manipulated into the format (*ISO, *MDY *MDYY *YYMD *YMD *DMY *DMYY) used by the user. Internationally there are several date formats used and working with date fields is a necessity and not a nice to have.

IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed.

IBM has received this requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.
