IBM Power Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Updating the "last used date" for all object types is a large effort. IBM will consider updating the "last used date" for a library (*LIB) object. When the QIBM_CGI_LIBRARY_LIST environment variable was set (as listed in the RFE description), a *LIB object was referenced/used. In this scenario
it would have been helpful for the "last used date" to be updated. We will investigate the other commands and operations where a library's "last used date" could be updated without impacting performance.

IBM will consider this request for a future code update, though no commitment is made or implied.

Making changes to update usage information for all object types would be a large effort.

There could be technical challenges and performance impacts involved for some object types so the list of object types/functions may never be complete.

Could you prioritize which object types are most important to you to update?

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. The object attribute values should always have accurate information, and it is a security concern for an audit to not have this information.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Power Systems
    Product - IBM i
    Component - Core OS
    Operating system - IBM i
    Source - Client

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Power Systems
    Product - IBM i
    Component - System Management
    Operating system - IBM i
    Source - Client

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.

CEAC recognises the value of the RFE, but feels that auditing could be used as an alternative of tracking usage today. Enabling this level of object tracking might impact performance.

It also looks like that last used date for *CMD is not updated according to
    an article by Simon Hutchinson.

You can find it here (search for the string "command"):
