Read only Access and Specific Auditing to DCM

Recently I raised a case #TS004338549 for getting support on DCM (Digital Certificate Manager). During interaction, I came to know that there is no mechanism to do the below two tasks within DCM.

1) There is no future to give "Read only Access" to DCM for specific user(s) or team
2) There is no mechanism to track/audit DCM activity.

Really it is a shocking news to know that IBM doesn't have such auditing future specific for DCM which is most important function of IBM i.

On behalf of ANZ bank - iSeries Infrastructure team, I highly recommend to have a specific mechanism to implement the above said two enhancements in upcoming days.

Use Case:

We are global iSeries infrastructure team at our back. But on the other hand, we do have country wise admin team to manage IBM i Systems. For them, there is a need to provide read only access to DCM. But there is no such option available as of today.

Then we tried to provide full access to DCM provided their activity should be tracked/audited properly since DCM is most important security related component. When we asked IBM for such option to track/audit DCM, IBM said that there was no mechanism.

TS004338549 can be referred further.

There is a small portion of DCM available to users that do not have *ALLOBJ and *SECADM special authority, but that is only to allow the read-only user to download Local CA Certificates into their browser. Having the ability to open a certificate store just for reading is not in plan. As for auditing, adding that enhancement is a request being considered for the future, but at this time, that request connot be contained.

IBM will use this request as input to planning but no commitment is made or implied. This request will be updated in the future if IBM implements it. IBM will use votes and comments from others in the community to help prioritize this request. Note, each of the two requests are under separate consideration.

Auditing is very much required in DCM. Please consider this request.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. There is a need for providing users the ability to review certificates without the modify access.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

IBM has received the requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.
