The following is the screen text for the PTF package apply for a special handling or a Technology Refresh PTF pack.
Confirm IPL to Complete PTF Install System: DATA1 A technology refresh PTF and/or special handling PTF requires an initial program load (IPL) to complete PTF install processing. A technology refresh PTF must be permanently applied before a PTF with a technology refresh requisite (*TRREQ) can be loaded. Special handling PTFs must be applied before the remaining PTFs in the PTF group can be applied.
Perform a normal mode IPL to complete the PTF install. During the next unattended IPL, the remaining PTFs will be installed from the following device:
Press F10 to confirm your choice to end all jobs on the system immediately and automatically IPL the system. Press F12 to cancel the installation.
On the screen the text for the F12 key says that it is to cancel the the installation. When really it does not cancel the installation but sets the PTFs so that they apply at the next IPL. The screen should be more descriptive about what is actually done. A plain reading of the screen for the F12 key can mislead someone to believe that it will not apply anything. So the proposal is to provide more information on the screen as to what is actually happening.
