licensing without depending on system serial number

Need a new API to make licensing without depending on system serial number.

Use Case:

Rocket iCluster is a HA/DR tool on IBM Power system for 20+ years.
We use GENLICKEY command to generate license keys for our customers. This command requires the SYSTEM SERIAL NUMBER info as you know.
Now, we need to provide license keys to some IBM Cloud users as well. But there is no such SYSTEM SERIAL NUMBER in their LPM environment. So we need to find another way to create the license keys with LPAR UUID (or something like).

Can someone please provide an example of how this Virtual Serial Number will work in practice. Both with new and existing IBM i clients?

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. We agree with CEAC's reasoning in the previous Comment below.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a HIGH priority requirement that is important to address.

With cloud usage growing for IBM i clients and the number of IBM i LPARs needing this functionally will offer more flexibility to MSPs and users alike.
