Template sessions in iACS session manager

Provide the ability to establish a template session in the iACS session manager. New display & printer sessions would be based on this template session so that a standardized (user or enterprise) set of parameters would be used.

All session parameters would be inherited from the template except the hostname & session name.

The template session could be named ".template" so it's hidden.

Users should be able to save an existing session as the template from the file menu (Save as template).


Use Case:

Users who have to create a lot of sessions for whatever reason would not have to reconfigure things like keyboard layout, toolbar, & session attributes.

    Thank you for submitting your Request For Enhancement. As has been previously stated, the requested functionality is already available at Communication-->Set as default profile. Marking this as Delivered.

    I was not aware of the "Set as default profile" option ... which seems to provide what I was asking for.

    I guess this RFE can be closed.

    Hello David,

    For a 5250 emulation session, what you are asking for is available. When opening a 5250 session, which you want to use as a template. In the menu "Communication" you have the option "Set as default profile".

    As I do not use printer emulation, I am not sure how it works but doing a quick test showed that the option is available at the same place, there too.

    Actually as regards this one, most of that stuff is already there. It's just not documented.

    If someone were very interested in this, it should be possible to write a shell script that would create a templated session.

    Recursive spelunking in iAccessClient/Settings/client.configuration sheds some light on this matter.
