Support folders in iACS session manager

Provide the ability to create folders & sub-folders in the iACS session manager to allow better organization of display & printer sessions.

Use Case:

In situation where there are large number of display & printer sessions, it would be useful to be able to organize them into folders & subfolders.

For instance, a user might want to group all production systems in one folder, development systems in another, and testing systems in yet another.

Thank you for submitting your Idea to enhance IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS). From the File menu, 5250 Session Manager supports Open Directory, and Change Directory? From there you can create additional sub-folders, organize your sessions, and navigate to different folders. There are no plans to enhance this capability.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed. For users for that have many system to manage or access, using a "Tree" based folders structure for not only the sesssion manager but also the main ACS interface would be a great usability enhancement.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT

Grouping session becomes a must when the list of host and terminal types grows - I would prefer a tree-grid to be able to i.e sort by host name or sort by device name or title etc.

IBM understands this request and will consider it for a future code update, though no commitment is made or implied.

And what about the same request for the Management/System Configurations panel?
