The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM not implement this request. We believe this has already been solved in IBM i 7.4, which uses SMB3.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a HIGH priority requirement that is important to address.
Performance is vital in every aspect for all users. If IBM i does not perform then it might lose trust with businesses. With many people working from home, an investigation into protocol differences via VPN should be considered.

As I understand it OPLOCK (opportunistic locking) was introduced into SMBv2.1 and IBM i Netserver uses SMBv2.0.2 in IBM i 7.2 & 7.3. Have your tried IBM i 7.4's SMBv3 support? Hopefully this would resolve your issue.
You can check what version of SMB you are using on the client for both your IBM i and Wintel Shares using the PowerShell command:
