Allow use of other ACS Tabbed 5250 sessions whilst another is Authenticating

Allow use of other ACS Tabbed 5250 sessions whilst another is Authenticating. See attached screenshot for example.

At the moment, if in tabbed mode, ALL tabbed sessions are locked and can not be used whilst the "Signon in Progress" dialogue displayed.

This locks the use of ALL 5250 session regardless of which system they are for.

Whereas, if you use none tabbed mode, this restriction does not apply. Only the 5250 session(s) associated with the "Signon in Progress" dialogue is locked

Use Case:

If a user has to manage multiple systems using the 5250 interface, this blocks access to managing any of them whilst any one system is authenticating.

This is made worse when there is a problem with authentication as there is typically a delay of up to 45 seconds before the time out dialogue appears and the other tabbed sessions become usable again.

Lack of this functionality - as well as awareness - caused 4 hours of interactive sign-on outage to our busiest production system on 2/24/21. This gave us the impression sign-on issue was on multiple systems throwing the troubleshooting to wrongly conclude a network issue might be causing the sign-on issue. IBM Support engineers were help troubleshooting the issue and even they were not aware of this "undocumented" feature [ ;-) ] spending over 2 hours to resolve the issue!

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.

This would give a significant improvement in User Experience, making this interface easier and more desirable. Especially for users that run a significant amount of SQL, as this is IBM's strategic direction for System Management via IBM i Services, we feel this should be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT
