Job Monitors in Navigator for i Merged

Dear Sir/Madam,

We currently have an IBMi running V7R1 and we are using Management Central's Job and Message Monitor functionality to trigger certain processes.

We are busy upgrading to V7R3 and Management Central is no longer supported. Instead we have to use the IBM Navigator for i using the web (i.e. Admin server port running on IBMi). Looking at the options available, I can only see that the Message Monitor option is available under the Monitors heading. However, I don't see the Job Monitor option.

Please can you advise what the alternatives/suggestions are with regards to using the same functionality on V7R3?

Please let me know if you require any other information.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Kind regards,
Misael Mateus

Use Case:

We use Job Monitor to track if a job is not started and if not it will automatically start the job based on a command

We have multiple RFEs for this. RFE 131724 has far more votes, so we will close this as a duplicate.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed.

CEAC would like to see these functionalities are migrated to / included with ACS. The Developer is on the right track of what users would want.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

    Hello Misael Mateus,

We ran into the very same issue, so we made the switch to watches. They give little overhead and they are fairly easy to implement. In the link below is an example :
    https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1011571

    I hope this helps.

Does this need to be an automated monitor that runs all the time ? On the dashboard in Navigator or iAccess mobile, you can watch for the existence of a job, you can use SQL Services to see if a job exists, you can also use Administration Runtime expert with an SQL service to verify if a job is running (within ARE, you can also schedule that check to happen on a regular interval) We have not included the specific Job Monitor support, and we have very little interest, Just want to better understand the use case so we can determine if we need/want to add this into Navigator.
