Add the ability to support multiple domains in i NetServer, QNTC

Many customers are utilizing additional domains as they move forward with implementing cloud solutions. In some implementations, the cloud domain will need to peacefully coexist with existing corporate domains and resources. With the current offering in iNetServer, we can only define one domain which will push us to select another solution for the processes in one or the other domains.

As stated in a previous post, multiple domains does not prevent IBM i NetServer from functioning correctly.
    We are declining this request.

IBM i NetServer operates as a standalone SMB server. While the server configuration allows a domain to be specified, that is only used when determining the domain to be used when sending NetBIOS host announcements to the network. Those browse announcements are not critical to normal server function.

It is also true that the domain is included in NTLMv2 authentication, but the client domain is provided by the client and the server verifies the client password based on the domain the client provides. As long as the client creates the authentication token correctly, the server will process it using the local user's stored credentials.

There should also be existing ways to set up the IBM i to participate in multiple Kerberos realms for single sign-on environments. I don't think there are configuration wizards for that, but additional realms (Windows Domains) can be added through IBM Navigator for i. The necessary keytab entries for NetServer can be added manually, and EIM configuration can be done to add a new source registry and user mappings. The main limiting factor is that manual setup would be required.

Is there a specific example of a scenario that does not work with the current level of support?

IBM i is not a domain member so I don't see the point.
