Ctrl / behavior enhancement request

I would like to request an enhancement to RDi for the Ctrl / and Ctrl \ key functions so that they either perform the "new" way which is consistent with Eclispe, or, the keystrokes perform as they did prior to the installation of Version: 9.6.0.12 20220812_0616. Prior to the upgrade, the comment characters were appended to the beginning of the line for each time you pressed the Ctrl / key, and removed when you pressed the Ctrl \ key. This made it easy to disable / enable blocks of code, and also made it easy for that code to stand out as being disabled. At a prior job, I used to just use one asterisk to disable blocks of code, until another developer mentioned that it even though it does work, it makes it hard to quickly see what code has been disabled. He recommended six asterisks to make it obvious what was disabled, and I still do that to this day to make the disabled code stand out. For free format, I had previously [before this upgrade] did Ctrl / three times to get six slashes and Ctrl / six times to get six asterisks when in fixed format. But now, with the upgrade, it no longer prepends the asterisk or slashes, it toggles them on and off instead. What I would like to request as an enhancement would be to allow RDI to have a Preference setting to allow the user to select how the behavior of the Ctrl / and Ctrl \ keys work: Append comment character or Toggle comment character. That way a user could select their preference. Now I have to key six asterisks and six slashes manually, which kind of defeats the purpose of the Ctrl / function. Thank you.

Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.

The support team came with a work around.

It can be used but I feel that it is very clumsy to use.

There is a way around this issue and that is:
    1) On the first line you want to comment out, use ALT+L
    2) Then go to the last line you want to comment out and then use ALT+L. Now you have the block of lines selected.
    3) Move your cursor on a different line that is not a comment line and select Ctrl+Shift+/ repeatedly. You should see that it will add the comments to the highlighted blocked lines repeatedly.

I have raised a case TS010509406 about the same problem on 05 sept 2022.

After a lot of writing back and forth with the IBM support team, they asked me to submit an idea here.
This request describes exactly the problem described in case TS010509406.

    There I suggested:

May I suggest that you implement an option in the preferences so
it is possible to select the old behaviour or the new.
That should have been done from the beginning.
