Trace usage of External SQL functions (linked to an external program) in OBJECT_STATISTICS or somewhere else

There is no IBMi object for External SQL Functions (linked to an external program). These functions are only knows and identified in DataBase level.

It is impossible to know the last usage date for these functions.

You can get the last usage date of the linked program or module but if these are used by another way, you can't be sure of the usage of the function.

Morever if you audit the external program. Calling the SQL Function do not produce any trace.

A possible solution is IBM Security Guardium, which includes a Database Activity Monitoring solution, as described at this link:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/guardium-and-db2-i-technical-resources

Any other solution to record explicit usage of an external function would require an update of SQL information stored in the program object every time the function is invoked. This would have a noticeable impact on all users of all functions. Slowing queries down to gather these usage details is not acceptable, so will not be implemented.

The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority Idea that should be addressed. One should be able to trace every usage of an SQL function, just like any program.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual IBM Ideas on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your Idea.
