Allow the CONST keyword for a standalone field or data structure

Our Generator (Synon) generates Code in Fixed RPG. Also we need to use our input and output fields in soap-server-modules as datastructures.

So we have the problem to sign the *entry plist parms as an input or output (or both) - structure.

It would be fine to have the same possibilitys as in prototypes with const or value - parameters.

Maybe allow define a datastructure with keyword CONST.

Many thanks

IBM believes that the solution for the Idea described is available with PTFs for 7.4 and 7.5 that allow the CONST keyword for standalone fields and data structures.

    PTFs:

    7.4 ILE RPG compiler: 5770WDS SJ00635

    7.5 ILE RPG compiler: 5770WDS SJ00650
    7.5 ILE RPG compiler, TGTRLS(V7R4M0): 5770WDS SJ00653

IBM will use this Idea as input to planning, but no commitment is made or implied. This Idea will be updated in the future if IBM implements it. IBM will use votes and comments from others in the community to help prioritize this Idea.

If this Idea is implemented, the CONST keyword will be supported for standalone fields and data structures, indicating that the variable cannot be modified.

If a PARM in the *ENTRY PLIST is defined with the CONST keyword, it will have the side-effect of being defined with 'usage="input"' in the generated PCML for the module.

Thank you for submitting your Idea. Your suggestion of supporting the CONST keyword for a data structure is a good idea.

If IBM implements this Idea, if a data structure in the *ENTRY :LIST has the CONST keyword, that would have the side-effect of cause "usage=input" in the generated PCML.

However, the title of your Idea mentions "*ENTRY PLIST" and that might discourage others from discovering the underlying idea of allowing the CONST keyword for a data structure.

Therefore, please change the title to be simply about the CONST keyword, for example "Allow the CONST keyword for a standalone field or data structure".
