This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The reason is security:
We need to comply with the CIS Benchmark for Windows 11 (CIS Microsoft Windows 11 Enterprise Benchmark v4.0.0), as this is the security standard for the customer
As outlined by this CIS version, it is required to enforce a minimum version mandate for SMB version 3.1.1.
What is the technical reason why SMB 3.1.1 support is required in IBM i 7.4?
Is the client side configured to only allow 3.1.1 servers? (Not the default Windows behavior)
Are you encountering connection problems because of Windows 11 24H2 stricter requirements on file names? (Problem 2 documented here: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7180720?myns=swgother&mynp=OCSWG60&mync=E&cm_sp=swgother-_-OCSWG60-_-E )

After laptops migration to Windows 11 with 24H2 service pack installed, it is not possible anymore to acess shared IFS directories from these laptops, even if SMBV3 is enabled on IBMi side and Netserver CP configured properly.
