In our startup routine, we've been doing both a
STRTCPSVR SERVER(*AUTOSTART)
and
STRDBGSVR
for years. To my understanding, the STRDBGSVR is the system debugger. Looking at the Server Jobs for the System Debugger in TCP/IP Servers, this is definitely what we start using the STRDBGSVR command. We just make sure it all runs under a profile with the necessary authorities.

I agree, I also think support for starting and stopping services with STRTCPSVR/ENDTTCPSVR for a few other daemons should added as well, like syslogd
