Function to indent/format existing code similar to how "Source/Convert All to Free-Form" works now

Would like to see a function to indent/format existing code. Could work similarly to how "Source/Convert All to Free-Form" works now, as well as "Convert Selection to Free-Form. on the context menu.
This "Indent" function would naturally only apply to /FREE code.

Use Case:

1) menu "Source/Format-Indent" would format code in the same way that is done when converting columnar RPG code to RPG-Free.
2) select text, use context menu (right click in RSE source member) and choose option "Format-Indent Selection" to indent and/or format the selected text.

This existing RFE tracks the Tab/Shift-Tab requirement

The support is for Ctrl-Shift-F or menu item to indent select code, or entire file if no code selected. Preferences exist for indentation amount, minimum, maximum column and special cases (SELECT/WHEN).

Tab/Shift-Tab and reflowing long lines should be created as separate RFEs. We wanted to get this functionality out sooner.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for Power Systems

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for Power Systems

The feature that is described in this request is a candidate for a future release.

Very poor this editor does not have this functionality, where all other modern editors have this feature by default

I completely agree with Poul. It is apalling that such a basic function is not implemented in a supposedly 'modern' tool like this.

Please escalate to a higher priority.

It's getting increasingly embarrassing that this feature is not yet available in the RDi product.
It's an annoying and unnecessary time-consumer to do the formatting manually - especially when adding or removing e.g. IF sentences around blocks of code. And because of this readability is often hampered because someone didn't bother to format the code appropriately.

IMHO, this request should be escalated to higher priority.

I really hope to get this feature very soon, because I'm tired to indent by myself.
Also I've two additions for this RFE:
    - This extension is not only needed for free-rpg, it is also necessary for cobol
    - Please use the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+F like it is in all mostly all other editors
    Thanks in advance!

IBM has been saying since Websphere that the theme is aligned with the current multi-year strategy. Well we have waited Multi-years and still no progress. This is one of the few editors that doens't automatically do some kind of auto indenting or marking. Please IBM you have a good editor, now lets modernize it and catch up with the others. Especially since we have to use it proportedly as of 7.1.

we already have the option to view the code indented. It would be neat to be able to indent the old RPG programs. Not only neat but very helpful for us the ones that inherit those programs not structured and full of nested IFs.

I too would like to be able to indent by selecting line(s) of code and pressing tab as is done in the java editor.

Lets hope they include code folding also so that I hopefully do not have to re-work code that has been indented to far to the right.

This could be configured per the user, as I suggested in an earlier comment, however in a way I also wish that IBM (or someone) would set an indenting/formatting standard (maybe like Java's?) and force us to go by that (or default to it).

This RFE is consistent with our strategy and product roadmap and will be under consideration for a future release. Status has been updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
