Allow hashed passwords for IBM i JDBC connections

We are using JDBC for connecting from Linux systems to our IBM i databases.
There are multiple scripts which automatically and periodically process all available databases. Currently we could either input the password every time a script is executed or store it in clear text in ODBC/JDBC definition file (odbc.ini).
The easiest way for us to bypass the clear-text-password problem would be to store it in a hashed format and allow JDBC driver to work with this hash.

    Thank you for the suggestion. At this time we do not plan to provide this as a solution for the following reason:
    Putting a hashed password inside a file that can be used by JDBC is not really a secure solution since anyone with access to the file could still access the IBM i using the JDBC driver. One possible solution for you to consider would be for the application to store the password in encrypted form in some file. Then the application could decrypt the password using the decryption key that only it knew about. This would keep the password from being visible outside the application.
