IBM Power Ideas Portal

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to this portal to enhance a Power product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas and add comments to ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The Power teams will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

In REPLACE mode, the RDI editor should overwrite existing text when pasting

In replace mode, any typed text overwrites existing text, including whitespace. Executing a "paste" operation, however, moves all existing text after the current insertion point, unless you preselect exactly the text you'd like to replace. Use Cas...

RDi-Stop Program Verify when I ask it to stop

If I accidentally press Ctrl+Shift+V instead of Ctrl+Shift+C, the program verify feature starts. It's extremely slow compared to just letting the code compile. I know I can change the keybindings but the STOP button should actually stop the verify...

Make Git adoption in RDi seamless for RPG developers. RDi currently has iProjects which can be used to adopt Git, but iProjects operate on the premise of offline editing. Not all RPG developers are going to be editing offline. Use Case: Focus on a...

Add edit/browse capability for called programs similar to copy books

When editing a CL or RPG source member in RDi, it would be cool if you could right click on a called program in that source and edit/browse that program in a new tab. This would perform similar to when you right click on a copy book. The LPEX edit...

Enable RDi to support leading and/or trailing comments on statements.

RDi hovering reveals comments when they "lead" a line of code. This works great. Some developers code "trailing" comments. Could RDi employ a preference to control the scope of comments included in a hover window? Use Case: Example. Here is a dcl-...

LPEX highlighting of matching keywords/brackets

A lot of editors will visually highlight matching parentheses when the cursor is resting on one half of the matching items. It would be nice if the LPEX editor could provide the same for RPG code. Use Case: * Highlight matching parentheses* Highli...
