SVMON - INEFFICIENT PROFILING WHEN USING '-S -O filename=on'

When generating a segment report with svmon, adding the 'filename=on' option increases the processing time exponentially. In one instance, the time difference was seen to be 9 seconds vs. 22 minutes. This DCR is opened to address the inefficiency.

TPROF - REFORMAT LONG SYMBOL NAMES

When tprof demangles C++ symbols, the resulting symbol name can be very long. On the report, it will force a misalignment or line wraparound of the data line. This makes the profile report very difficult to read This DCR is opened to request that ...

TRCSTOP - ADD SUPPORT FOR '-s' FLAG WHEN USING NON-CIRCULAR TRACES

The paced buffer flush provided by 'trcstop -s' is critical to avoid causing problems by the heavy I/O caused by 'trcstop'. However, this option is only available for circular traces. If necessary, we can limit this feature for traces taken with e...

TPROF - CPU USAGE OF TID RELATIVE TO PID/ OR PROCESS NAME WITH '-z' FLAG

Tprof profiles give % usage of routines/threads relative to the entire system load. This makes it difficult to identify top CPU consuming PIDs/TIDs and routines as it corresponds to the PID or process name. This DCR is opened to add a column for p...

TPROF - MULTIPLE LIGHTWEIGHT ENHANCEMENTS

Ability for tprof and trace to discard prior data( user specified option to retain last 'x' intervals of data ) Provide address and bytes of routines for other options other than '-z' Request for an option in tprof/any other mechanism to indicate ...

TPROF - COLLECT VALID DATA WITHOUT TRACE '-M' FLAG

Tprof processing requires the trace '-M' flag( collect address map information and dump into trace ) in order to provide accurate information when generating a profile. The '-M' flag is "heavyweight" and can be disruptive in a live/sensitive syste...

TPROF - TIMESTAMP LIMITED PROFILING OF TRACE DATA

If a very large trace file is collected, the only option for tprof profiling is to process the entire trace data files. This DCR is opened to add a feature to tprof that will allow the user to limit the profiling to a specified start and end time ...

TPROF/GENSYMS - PROVIDE PROFILING SUPPORT FOR RELOCATED TEXT SEGMENTS

Currently tprof and gensyms do not provide information for text segments relocated using LDR_CTRL manipulations. This corresponds to processes allocated with HUGE_EXEC and cases where text code has been relocated to SEGMENT 2( as process private )...

TRCRPT - CONSISTENT NUMBER OF COLUMNS IN GENERATED TRACE REPORT FILE

When '-O svc=on' is used, some lines contain the system call and some others don't. Trace report files require heavy post processing and text parsing in order to interpret. The inconsistent number of columns forces the users to add workarounds to ...
