IBM Power Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

diagcloudconn needs more robust features in testing.

Many times when trying to diagnose an issue between HMC and CMC  we are forced to engage IBM support to get access to such common commands as curl or wget or traceroute as they are locked down in the HMC.
It is incredibly helpful to either allow access to these commands or incorporate more robust testing in the diagcloudconn command to in diagnostics with proxy or firewall or other issues.
By integrating these diagnostic tools directly into the HMC interface or allowing access through Diagcloudconn, IBM can streamline the troubleshooting process and empower users to resolve issues more efficiently. Here's how each tool could benefit users:

curl: With curl integration, users can easily retrieve data from various sources over the network. This can be particularly useful for testing HTTP/HTTPS connections, checking response times, and troubleshooting web server issues.

wget: Wget is a versatile tool for downloading files from the internet. By including wget in the HMC toolkit, users can quickly test download speeds, verify file integrity, and retrieve diagnostic files or patches directly to the managed systems.

traceroute: Traceroute is essential for diagnosing network routing problems. By incorporating traceroute into the HMC, users can identify the path packets take from the source to the destination, pinpointing any network hops causing delays or failures.

Furthermore, providing these capabilities directly within the HMC environment enhances security by minimizing the need for users to resort to external, potentially unsecure tools or environments.
