Outline API

It will be really great if the Outline classes could be used from a RDp Plugin project or from a custom Java class. This will allow a programmer to parse RPG source code an to obtain related metadata from it.

For example, detect which variables are global and which are local. Determine how many procedures are present in the code and where
are invoked...

This kind of information can be used to calculate metrics, refactoring and any other related task.

The outline is already working, just make an usable and extendable interface.


Use Case:

A Java Programmer extends or uses the Outline API clases to create custom tools that help him to manipulate or analize their source code.

    Thank you for taking the time to submit your request. After careful consideration, we know that we cannot deliver your requested enhancement in the near term, so it is being declined. However, your request does align with the future strategy of our product and we believe it may have future value, so we will add it to an internal list for us to keep in mind for the future.

    We have reviewed this requirement and we feel it would be a beneficial enhancement to the product. We hope to be able to add it to our development plans in the future.
