IBM believes that this request has been solved in IBM i 7.5. The system administrator has the ability to enable the option to prompt FTP users to determine if the secure connection should be allowed when the remote server certificate is not trusted by the local configuration.

A new parameter is considered to add to the FTP client command that allows a TLS connection with an untrusted server on a one time basis. The parameter default would require the server certificate be trusted.

Both interactive and batch programs can leverage the support.

IBM has received the requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.

Maybe an option on the FTP command to ignore missing trusts is a better option ?

You could also look at if a SECADMIN is doing the FTP that an option to import / start trusting the CERT to simplify trusting remote certificates.
