AIX and VIOS have always provided mechanisms for administrators to establish minimum password lengths. There are no plans to alter what is the minimum supported password length for VIOS padmin.
I had raised a PMR to address this issue. They only advised me to open a case here so that I get a solution how to apply that in a VIO server. It seems PMR team also doesn't know how to enable that password policy for VIO server.
If some one can tell me how to set it for a VIO server it would be great.
But yes, As you mentioned it is your call to make changes in the product. I have no comments on that.
I just want to know if this product can support this feature at present, if yes please let me know how to do it.
The policies referenced are internal to IBM. Please elaborate as to why it is believed these policies should be enforced in the products we sell. Why is it requested the the IBM internal policy for passwords should become the default password policy for the products IBM sells ?
