Hi Andrew,
CR1 and CR2 do have capability to monitor for its own hardware issue and its there for 7042 HMCs as well, but only for critical events in case of 7042. For the specific issues that are discussed in the RFE, we would recommend opening a case and collecting the required logs to get more details. At this point of time, marking the RFE as delivered since CR1 and CR2 HMC's do have the requested capability (and 7042 also for critical events).
I have attached 3 examples, this was on a 7042. I had arrived at the console to complete an upgrade to V9R1 SP 942 from 8.7 SP2. The front light diagnostics were showing a fan fault and the fan was spinning up and down in a loop. When checking the BIOS logs I found the 3 attached errors, none of these had generated a serviceable event in the HMC software. We manage many of these devices and I don't recall ever seeing an event for other hardware errors such as disk failures or system board issues ever being flagged as a serviceable event.
Ref the 7063 we have yet to have a single hardware issue, I will report back if we do.
Attachment (Description): Example alert 3 from BIOS not flagged as serviceable event on a 7042.
Attachment (Description): Example alert 2 from BIOS not flagged as serviceable event on a 7042.
Attachment (Description): Example alert 1 from BIOS not flagged as serviceable event on a 7042.
Hi,
HMC does monitor for hardware specific events on 7042 or 7063 machine types. HMC gets the info from the firmware and serviceable events are raised based on the same. Can you provide more info on the cases where the serviceable event was not generated ?
Thanks.
