This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Current situation:
When permission to a specific LPAR is defined in a given resource role, permission is automatically given to the hosting server.
If the LPAR is migrated to another hosting server, permission to this new server is not given automatically. The result is that the migrated LPAR is flagged as "Unavailable Resource" in the resource role and is not visible to the user in the HMC.
This behaviour as been confirmed by the support:
<QUOTE>
Since V9R1 there is an enhancement that allows the resource role to be kept and transferred to the new system after LPM.
There are however a few requirements for that:
1) The enhancement does not work on remote LPM (when a different HMC is managing the destination). Both systems need to be managed by the HMC performing the LPM
2) The HMC needs to have at least one resource permission on the destination system. This means, it needs to have permissions for at least one other LPAR on the destination system in order to be able to facilitate the permission transfer.
</QUOTE>
Proposed change:
Requirement 2) should be removed.
If permissions have been given to an LPAR, they should be kept wherever the LPAR is running.
Alternative : When defining a resource role, a user should be able to select a specific field (similar to the 'CEC Management' field) that would enable the permission transfer to a given system when an LPAR is migrated.
