OpenSSH reporting non-compliant verison for PCI

We currently run the OpenSSH Server and Client on our IBM i which is on V7R1. We have been informed by our outside scanning PCI compliance vendor that we have critical security vulnerabilities on the IBM i due to the fact OpenSSH is reporting the version as "SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_6.9". At a result it appears vulnerabilities such as "OpenSSH Xauth Command Injection Vulnerability" and "OpenSSH TTY Permissions Denial of Service Vulnerability" may exist due to the fact the version is not current.

While we are current on PTFs, including SI63657, these PTFs did not address the version # being reporting by the system for OpenSSH. In order to resolve this OpenSSH needs to be updated to the most current version that has been released.

Use Case:

We utilize OpenSSH to process inbound and outbound files for over 600+ clients and it is critical to our organization.

.This has been delivered via a major upgrade to OpenSSH. However, our patching strategy may cause false non-compliance to be signaled in the future.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. This is important to address since it is security issue.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
