From iseries I create excel files and write to shared windows folder for ftp access from suppliers.
From iSeries I create EDI transport documents to be transmitted to customers through the EDI proprietary application.
Now use SMBv1 (SMBv2 not avaiable on 7.1!!!!)
SMBv1 has vulnerability issues: why not release PTFs for version 7.1 for SMBv2?
The problem has long been known, but IBM (I think for commercial reasons) has not updated and is still not updating a security hole on its systems.
Will IBM release a PTF for 7.1 soon?
It should issue ptf for security at least until April 2018 and we pay for it!!!

As stated in other requests, SMB2 is available in IBM i 7.2 (via PTF) and in IBM i 7.3. SMB2 will not be made available in 7.1.
I second GlennG's comment.
If something is difficult and time consuming, I think it is a waste of effort to make every fix available for old releases. 7.2 has been available for 4 years now (May 2, 2014). People should upgrade their software every 3 years. This security vulnerability is a great reason to upgrade. 7.3 has been available since April 15, 2016.
