This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Recently I had some PMRs -> APARs resolved by PTFs.
The problem is, these new PTFs are not automatically included on any CUMe package and I was very surprised to learn that they were not included in any of the current Group PTFs for IBM i 7.1, 7.2 or 7.3.
It can take a long time for enough users to request an individual PTF via Fix Central, before it reaches the "threshold" to be included on the next CUMulative fix package for that version/release.
I think there should be a new PTF Group for 5770-WDS, the development tools, that includes all of the compilers, etc., and PDM, SEU, etc.
Recently, I had opened some PMRs that were accepted as APARs and eventually PTFs were created for the ILE C,C++, COBOL and RPG IV compilers to resolve the issues.
But, the problem is, those PTFs are not currently on any CUMe and I was very surprised to learn that they were not included in any of the current Group PTFs for IBM i 7.1, 7.2 or 7.3.
There is a "threshold" -- a certain number of customers must order a given PTF via Fix Central before it will automatically br included on the next CUMulative PTF package for the affected version/release of IBM i.
This can take so long, for example, to reach that threshold, those PTFs might never "make it" onto any CUMe PTF package for IBM i 7.1, as it is nearing "end of support".
PTFs that affect development tools, especially compilers, are critical infrastructure and should be deemed "more important" than the run-of-the-mill PTFs.
Customers reply on the compilers and developer tools to maintain their own applications, whether in-house or vendor provided code to which those customers make "custom modifications."
PTFs may correct long-standing defects, and those PTFs should have a higher priority than "normal" PTFs and should be included on the next CUME package, or they at least deserve to go into a new PTF Group for 5770-WDS.

IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed.
Creating group PTFs for all the components of 5770-WDS and the related runtimes would be too complex to implement.
However, note that PTFs for the RPG compiler and runtime are part of the Db2 for i PTF groups.
The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and views this as a "nice to have" feature, but not a high priority requirement.

IBM has received the requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.
Note that RPG PTFs are already being included in the DB2 PTF Groups. But we understand that this request is for all the compilers and tools in WDS.
