Provide IBM PSIRT information as webservice

In a world where security problems are a daily returning issue, keeping the system up-to-date (without installing complete PTF packages) is a challenging process.

While IBM has the PSIRT blog that contains this value information, it is not electronically available for processing.

It would therefore be handy if this information (CVE number, description, PTF or group level, ...) could be accessed as a webservice so we can write a script to see if the advised PTF's are installed on our systems or not.

Use Case:

If the information is available we could write a script to check if the recommended PTF's are installed.

CAAC members would like you to be aware that there are products in the marketplace that will do what you are asking -- an example is HelpSystems's Robot Monitor.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

IBM i does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed. These PTFs are already in HiPER GROUP, but the process of identification is cumbersome -- it would be helpful to small shops to simplify by having something like a Db2 for i service.

IBM has received the requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.
